When lockdown is lifted, we’ll probably see the resurrection/rejuvenation of the prosperous Tang Dynasty in the city of Chang’an(Xi’an), or at least the resurrection/rejuvenation of Tang Dynasty’s beauties all over the street in Chang’an. It occurs to me that my American History teacher Heather once said in the class: “one of my Chinese senior students said to me : “Hi Heather, you’re a beauty, of course, in the Tang Dynasty”. She understands that the aesthetic criteria for beauty/beauties in the Tang Dynasty are “plump and voluptuous”. The imperial Concubine Yang (Yang Yuhuan) was the typical beauty of the Tang Dynasty.
